People say that you shouldnt talk to your mom like that... but your mom shouldnt be alowed to talk to YOU like that. just because she is your mother, doesnt mean she has the right to boss over you like that. FYL op !

As a mother, she does indeed have the right to boss OP around. She has had more years of experience and wisdom, and her job as a parent is to help guide OP down a path that will lead to success but OP has to do the rest. OP deserved more than a slap, and is lucky that is all he got (assuming a guy because of the sexist comment).
