Today, my parents came to the restaurant I work at as a waiter. After, I picked up the check to realize they had left me a $500 tip! We split the tips among the employees so I only got $50 back but I was still psyched. When I got home they asked me if I had noticed that they used my credit card. FML

I hope you told them that you had to split the tips. What a waste. they thought they were being clever and wasted all your tip money. Heh. FYL indeed.

oh well. It's not like that's the worst thing a parent could do to you.

Why would they do that? What kind of a resturant splits tips? Very non capitalistic.

Why would you even enter that tip amount and also after seeing such a large amount wouldn't you look at the card they were using and go back to the table and ask if they meant to put so much in. I mean they are your parents after all unless you've seen them be this generous in the past I would think it a tad odd especially since you have to split tips at your job.

NOW WHY DID HE DESERVE THAT? WHY DID U CLICK ON YOU DESERVED THAT COMMENTS? GO ****!!!

Yes, it is time to get your parents credit and spoil the hell out of yourself. However, YDI because I don't care how old you are, why in the hell did your parent have YOUR card? To the others asking why the tip was divided with the coworker: That's how that shit works. Who in the hell doesn't know that about restaurants? If anything, just the bussers should share the tip but FYL if you are one of those who believes that your server will actually receive you FULL tip for themselves next time you go have a nice dinner....

The idiots who don't understand tip-sharing obviously have never worked in the industry. FYI, getting caught hiding tip money equals your ass getting fired. YDI for not looking at the card, but since it was your parents I probably wouldn't have checked it either, assuming that you have the same bank with the same colored cards like my family does. Check your wallet next time your parents come in. (:

ok i work as a waiter and this is how it is where i work, waiters each have their own stations (x number of tables) and they work those stations. they collect the tips from each of their tables and thats it, we keep the tips

You can try disputing the charge. Tell your bank that your credit card was stolen and used at the restaurant. If the business doesn't have a copy of YOUR signature authorizing the transaction, the restaurant will have to pay for the charge, and not you.

that WE MADE. if im doing good and i make 100 bucks then im not gonna split that with some ************ who only made 10, thats his problem, he should learn to be a better worker. its true that we give tips to the bus boys tho, its usually 10% of what each of us made that day. so like 5-10 bucks a person. if ur forced to split ur tips, then quit working where ur working cuz that shit is ****** up. ur getting ripped off, damn dude ur psyched over 50 bucks? you dont care that you dont get ur other 450? shit, and its ur own money too.

YDI for being selfish and actually taking the money from the people who gave you life, raised you, and who you are still living with. You didn't even call to see if it was a mistake? They probably did it as a joke but never thought that their own child would be so greedy and stupid.

WTF? The parents are definitely the assholes in this situation. It's not greedy to accept a tip. He probably just thought it was a gift. Plus, why would parents use their waiter son's credit card to pay for their dinner? Bizarre and rude...
