Smells like… victory

Today, my friends confronted me and told me that they no longer want to visit my house because my dog smells really disgusting. I didn't have the heart to tell them that the smell is actually my parents, who have been trying to "save water" by only showering once a fortnight. FML

I feel sorry for the dog, their sense of smell is 100 times that of ours.

Then... how often do they give the dog a bath?

...they don't use deodorant or anything of that nature either? As long as they don't sweat profusely at any point and make good use of deodorant and not wear the same clothes everyday...... Then by 2 weeks they wouldn't stink to the point of people saying something? They probably don't smell GREAT... But it wouldn't be THAT bad I wouldn't imagine.

It's the middle of Summer here in Australia, so I'm guessing OP's parents reek of BO by the end of the day, let alone by the end of two whole weeks.

I hope OP's parents also don't take a dump while they're in the shower.

#55, because it could be up to 14 days before they "flush." ;)

I am really curious as to how the OP's parents employers haven't taken issue with the bad personal hygiene issue and its effect in their workplace yet. As in, your smell is making everyone want to hurl and is making babies cry. Go shower or don't come back. Work place issues like this have a habit of making someone change fast or face the wrath of an angry mob of coworkers in gas masks.

I have so many questions! Okay, how often do you get to bathe? How did both of your parents agree to live this way? Is the amount of water saved offset by how often they have to wash their sheets? How do they stand themselves?

I'd personally be honest and tell them that my friends have noticed a smell every time they're over and no longer want to visit. It really does depend on how your parents would react on if you should say anything...if it comes down to it you could always febreeze the house (them included) if you want guests lol

I feel for you OP I would of thrown a bucket of suds on them followed by the hose by now! Surely they have (free) public toilets with showers in them over there. What about petrol station restrooms? Here you pay $1 and you can have a nice hot shower. Perhaps a swim in a lake, river, ocean or towns local pool? Buy a rainwater tank or fiberglass tub and put it out to catch the rainwater? Hook your hose up to the neighbours tap and steal their water? A public car wash? In Peru (where there is very limited water) they save their urine (for up to 12 months) and wash their hair and face in it. Yuck, I know right? Surprisingly they say they don't stink after it. Anythings worth a try! ;)
