I'm sure she's one of those people who love dogs more than people, so she may feel like she knows when really she'll only have a dog as company for the rest of her life.
As being an Army wife and surviving his deployment to Afghanistan its true that no one knows what its like to be a military spouse unless they've done it, I can't fathom the pain you're going through right now, my condolences.
MarioDragon, I love my dog more than 98% of the people I know, yet I'm happily married and can only imagine the suffering this woman is going through, it sounds like the lady was just trying to express sorrow for the woman and didnt know what to say . I think you need to think twice.
Yeowch.
Ouch! And I´m sorry for ur loss :(
The woman's remark was certainly insensitive, but I think her point of having experienced some degree of grief was valid. Grief isn't a competition for whose grief is worse. It's all miserably painful. I hope you will find comfort and peace in time. Be kind to yourself.
Sorry op I was in iraq in 2007 war its hell :(
Well they both have something in common... Both did it doggystyle..
What i would like to know is why you were forced to explain to her about your husbands death, the only thing i can think of is that you were crying somewhere public (even at work maybe) and this woman offered sympathy. Sure she said something a bit silly but what did you honestly expect her to say. As you said she is a stranger. She can hardly offer her condolenses on him since she didn't know him.

Some people just don't know what they're saying.
