That's nice of you, but you should have told him it's the wrong number. Either you ended the call without him knowing, and now there's someone he was supposed to tell who is clueless of the situation, or he found out eventually and was probably more stressed about it.

Id say you did the right thing by staying on in my books unless you hung up then I don't know what to say
