Your dog should be put down. Once a dog tastes another dogs blood, they won't stop. And no I'm not crazy, I work in a vets office AND am friends with many different breeders
That is absolutely one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Are you sure you're not thinking of idk wolves or other kinds of wild animals? My mothers Boxer was attacked when she was being taken on a walk and she bit the attacking dog. She plays happily with another boxer and the two lapdogs and border collie next door. The fact that you instantly go with put the dog down shows you know nothing about animals and you certainly lack compassion. 99.9% of all animals can be saved from human ignorance if given a chance.
This doesn't surprise me at all. From personal experience people that own tiny dogs have no respect for larger dogs. I have an 80lb German Shepherd puppy and I took him to the dog park in the 30lb + section. A few moments later these morons come in with a MINI POODLE PUPPY the thing weighed MAYBE a pound. I tried to keep my dog away from them but they kept following me, so I said fine and stopped trying. Another dog almost grabbed it and that's when they flipped out and left blaming the large dog owner. Due to a stupid husky owner my gsd is now dog aggressive. The husky has fought multiple dogs and they still bring it to the park. So we don't go anymore because my dog is high anxiety and will attack any dog he sees. I take him to a nature park and I was once followed by a dog owner that thought his behavior was hilarious. If I for one second let up on my leash her pit bull would've been dead and I would've been blamed for it. Not her for following me around and even when I went on a different path to get away she would still follow. but it would've been all my fault and my dog would've been put down. I'm not saying OP was right or wrong and I think its sad the other dog died, but sometimes stupid owners basically ask to get their dog killed.
I agree that dogs can become dog aggressive. And I agree that your dog absolutely could have and probably did become dog reactive and aggressive because of his/her experiences at the park based on the idiocy of others. But the moment you saw that husky up there the second time, you should've turned around and found a different park. And from that first moment after having a bad experience with another dog, you should've taken your dog somewhere to socialize him/her in a nice way. (Like a puppy class.) Because my dog had a similar experience with a Boxer that just wanted to flip him upside-down and growl in his face. And after that happened, we didn't go back up to the dog park. We went to classes, religiously, to $5 an hour dog day care places where the dogs can play with supervision, to friends' houses, to festivals with other people and other dogs. Dog socialization is a lot more than the dog park. And you might know this. Maybe you've done it! I don't know you or your background. And I'm very sorry to hear that your dog is so DA/DR, but they don't have to be. My dog had several bad experiences and he plays like the best of them, never has a problem. (He's a 65lb Lab/Boxer mix.) It really depends on how you handle the situation. But good luck with your dog. And I'm so sorry your experiences were so sucky. You and your dog deserved a lot better from other dog owners. Some people are just horribly negligent.
yeah he was only attacked by the husky once and that's when we never went back, a woman though after the attack told me that she saw the husky fight at least 3 other dogs. the first time he was attacked at all was by a shepherd mix. Never saw either of them again. We had him evaluated by an aggressive dog specialist here in st. Louis and from what they said we would need a miracle before he ever could be trusted to play with another dog. Sucks because I feel sad for him. Today is his 1 year birthday and he had to spend it with either me or my boyfriend. He never gets to play with anyone and you can tell he gets lonely sometimes.
So, yes, YDI. Only because your dog was able to attack another dog because of your negligence. Your dog will be punished for it when it should be you that's punished. Thanks for adding more stigma against certain breeds of dog.
This whole thing could have been the small dog owners fault so maybe he didn't deserve it. Just because a small dog died doesn't mean it is the large dogs fault. Large dogs seriously can not be dogs in today's society. If they growl to show fear or to let you know to back off they are vicious. a Chihuahua is lol cute. If a large dog bites because it was harassed to the point of acting out its killed and everyone posts about how horrible they are. A chihuahua is told No and some excuse is made like he has little man syndrome or he is protecting his "mommy". Please keep that in mind before throwing all the blame on to someone.
Thank you #210. My mom has little dogs and I have big dogs. Her one little mix (who weighs about 10 lbs.) breed had bitten three of my dogs (who are pit bulls that weigh over 50 lbs.) and she says that her little dog did nothing wrong. My one pit growled at the little mix for trying to attack her again and my mom threatened to put my dog to sleep. I love all dog breeds, but people need to stop treating little dogs like they are the most perfect little angels.
What the hell are you talking about? A puppy?!? How the **** did you let this happen?!?
I know that is upsetting to you, but I have a tiny dog and I would all but die if anything happened to him. imagine if something ate YOUR beloved dog. would you feel this way? ya the cost may be great, but that is nothing compared to how that owner is feeling. that money will do nothing to help that owner feel better about the loss of their pet. remember this.
I feel bad front being a family pet but I don't feel bad evaluate most small dogs are annoying yappy assholes that piss and shit everywhere
Well... that escalated quickly.
