That was a pretty smart move for the perpetrator. Vandalise every house except yours to throw the trail off him/her.

I doubt anybody would be stupid enough to put themselves in that position if they were actually the culprit. Just tell people you're not that dumb.

That would be the expected cover. Like if someone works for the FBI they'll never just come out like, "so today I was at FBI headquarters just doing some espionage and..."

Maybe the person knew you and was trying to frame you. Other then that I don't know why they would skip your house.
