Tantrum

By brokedad - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I was questioned by police for forcing a 12-year-old to get in my car. That 12-year-old is my daughter, who refused to get in until I agree to buy her a highly expensive purse just to become popular. FML

A swift kick in the ass is what I would've gotten if I tried pulling that shit with my parents when I was younger..

Depending on how far you were from home and the level of maturity of your daughter, I'm wondering why you forced her with such zealousness that someone even called the police. I would have either made her walk or at least went to a nearby store and went shopping for myself while she stewed. And NEVER give in once no is said...sets a bad precedent. But 12 yr old girls are insane, my heart goes out to you OP.

Don't buy her something she wants just because she throws a temper tantrum! If I did that I would be in so much trouble not just when I was there but when I got home my dad had the belt ready and I knew not to try that crap again. Discipline your child, she should know better than that!

Lol that your fault people buying these little kids iPods and iPhones and purses wtf!? Control your brat cause she controlling you my kids would never act this way!!!!!

(Responded to the wrong comment) But yeah OP should discipline his daughter more.

Well time to have a discussion with your daughter about real values.

Explain to her that popularity doesn't get you anywhere, and that even if you did get her a $1k purse it would probably fall out of style in a few months. Your daughter needs to focus on her studies so that she can get a good job and eventually buy her own things. A high paying job is more valuable than a short period of attention.

$1000 on a purse? What, is made of diamonds?

What ever happened to the casual barbie/dora ?

My thoughts exactly. I remember when the most expensive things a kid wanted were Pokemon cards and a Tamagotchi, and they were maybe $20 at the most. Today, I saw an ad for a doll that holds a child's iPod and iPhone so they won't get lost at school. And the doll itself was over $50, let alone the ridiculous price of the Apple products it holds. Wtf.

I still have my tomagotchi.

You seriously bought that brat a purse?

Get her a douchebag, she'll end up with one anyway with that attitude.
