Tantrum

By brokedad - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I was questioned by police for forcing a 12-year-old to get in my car. That 12-year-old is my daughter, who refused to get in until I agree to buy her a highly expensive purse just to become popular. FML

I only say you deserved it because you shouldn't be giving into your kid like that. Next time ground her instead and take away her stuff.

What part of the FML gives you the impression that OP gave in?

What a brat. Parent needs to discipline.

I would have said "Ok. Suit yourself. walk home." If she wants the purse, she has to earn it herself. Babysitting, mowing lawns, helping an elderly neighbor with chores and errands, walk the dogs in the neighborhood. What a brat you have raised. Only you have yourself to blame.

The same happened to me with my Little sister. Except she's white and Black. We have no resemblance

Look at the positive side, you have neighbors that care about the safety of children to get this looked into!

wow thats how kids become popular these days? thats not how i remembered it in elementary school (im turning 19)

There is a certain level of freedom once you are sure you will never be popular. It is actually quite liberating.

YDI. You need to discipline your daughter if you don't want these kind of things happening.

If you actually bought the purse, after you were manipulated into agreeing, then YDI.

Who to blame, kids or parents? I say parents are more to blame, these are the kind of people who fail to take into account why their parents were so hard with discipline and 'tough love' (so they wouldn't turn into narcissistic spoilt morons), and decide that they aren't going to be like that to their own kids. Your kids should never be considered your friends, you let your friends get away with worse behaviour because it's their money and their consequences.
