Tantrum

By brokedad - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I was questioned by police for forcing a 12-year-old to get in my car. That 12-year-old is my daughter, who refused to get in until I agree to buy her a highly expensive purse just to become popular. FML

Parenting fail. Good job, OP, you're raising a real winner.

what kind of police they are... that they couldnt understand she is ur daughter ..... but maybe u are that much handsome and young that they thought in that way.... lol

My parents spoiled my older brother and I rotten when we were growing up. My brother has a ton of friends/girlfriends and is super popular. And I have a...few close friends and sometimes I'm lucky if a girl wants to even talk to me... Material things will not make her popular. Trust me, I had awesome shit growing up but at the end of the day, it's just....shit. I'm kind of shy so I never made many friends. Teach your daughter to be sociable and kind and she will make the right friends :)

Hey, at least if she has a purse, you can put a brick in it. Then actual strangers won't be able to force her into their car :P

Jesus, a time when 12 year olds have control over there parents... *sigh*

Pretend to drive away and drive around the block to come back. After you've told her she can walk home because expensive things are earned and worked hard for not just given.

Pff force her in? Lock the doors and drive 5 mph the whole way home so she has to walk behind.

I'd go in her room sell off enough of her stuff and then bring her the purse. Or I just would've laughed in her face and/or embarrassed her in front of everyone for daring to give me an ultimatum.

When I was a kid, I used to carry my stuff in my backpack, even in high school.
