I call fake. This is a common example used in psych classes of an independent variable. This sort of study has been replicated so many times that a researching psychologist would gain nothing by testing it again.
i cant vote either cuz even though its sad your considered unattractive lots of people are unattractive and just accept it and live their life no differently from the more attractive people. so i dont really think that your life sucks for this reason but in no way do you deserve to be treated any different for your looks, so i am in between. still a valid fml for sure.
WHY would anybody create a fake FML: WHAT would be the point?
Um, like the people who write a summary of a common gif found on 4chan? Those people as well? People just want to see something of theirs published, even if it means they have to fib to see something they wrote on the front page.
But really, how can I tell whether you're hot or ugly when I'm speeding past you at 50 miles per hour? There's a huge potential for error in this study design, though. What if the "attractive" girl wore really skimpy clothes and got all whored up? Lecherous men would've stopped. Were you on the same road at the same time? Otherwise she could've just gotten a better-traveled road, possibly with rush-hour traffic. What were the respective speed limits? Were you positioned behind the car or in front of it? Were you both jumping up and down signaling for help, or just standing there awkwardly? Did she have a nicer car than you? Unless you were coached in exactly what to wear, and how to conduct yourself and placed on the same road at the same time, it seems likely that the two results aren't even comparable. As I said before, if you're just trying to work from facial attractiveness, it seems fairly unlikely that anyone would've been able to tell how attractive you are while driving past, even at 30mph.
Really? Do you think in the few, limited amount of characters she has space to type out her FML she would tell you all about the experiment, where it took place, how long she stood there, how fast the cars were going, what time it was, what she had for breakfast, what her great aunt's favorite tv show was, how many cats she adopted from the local animal shelter, and what color her neighbor's house is? You only have SO much space... Really, if they took the time to find unknown people to be tested, then obviously the experiment was well (enough) thought out.

Don't feel bad. There are loads of confounds in this experiment. Like other posters have mentioned, it could have been the road, the time of day, the weather, etc.
ydi for being an ugly Canadian, eh
yesss fyl... but traffic would of stopped more with maybe some nudity... just fyi
You deserved it.... for not knowing the difference between 'effects' and 'affects'!
