Thanks, I hate it

Today, after spending four days having my resume, cover letter, and references proofread and perfected by professionals, I finally submitted it all to the summer internship of my dreams. I received a rejection letter ten minutes later. FML

You can dress it up all you want, but in the end, a pile of shit (your resume, cover letter and references) is still a pile of shit.

Never assume you'll get the job. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

¿Adónde están los papas fritas? Quiero comerlos. :) ...Or something like that. >_>

Who cares if your cover letter and resume are perfect? Obviously you weren't qualified for the job.

Hmmm since it only took ten minutes, I'm guessing that the real tragedy here is that it might not have happened if you weren't four days too late. A lot can happen in four days.

how do u know they were for days late??

I have a hunch they already have it filled and only posted it to fulfill legal requirements.

To be honest you shouldn't have pinned all your hopes on one thing like that, especially if you were going to all that effort. Look around, I'm sure there are other interships out there. That does suck though, bad luck!

Was this for a BP internship? I applied and received an email about 10 minutes later saying I met the minimum qualifications for it, but I have not been guaranteed a position. If you got rejected you may have marked something on the questionaire that disqualified you for the position, not enough schooling, etc.

I feel your pain...internships are almost impossible to find let alone get accepted for these days! And one that pays? Forget about it! Keep trying though dude!

You just don't have the right skills. There are plenty of paid internships.

Apparently your dream job requires some actual skills and not just a pretty resume.
