That Friday feeling

By Anon - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - New Zealand

Today, I was fired by one of my bosses for doing something the other boss told me to do. I work for a family company. Turns out my bosses are going through a divorce and will do anything to prove the other wrong. FML

Tell the wife that the husband said she is terrible in bed. Then tell her you are willing to help prove him wrong.

So? Just go back to that other boss and ask your job back. He or she can prove it was wrong to get you fired ;-)

...yea... that is so easily a lawsuit waiting to happen... then u can be their boss =D (not literally of course but still)

Unless it’s an at will state and then you get screwed

i had the exact same thing happen to me, only the 2 bosses weren't even married, they were just friends having a falling out. :(

I think you should get them together and explain that this is unjust and that you hope you can work this out before you consult an attorney about filing an unlawful termination suit.

Just show back up to work, if either one asks why you're there just tell them the other person hired you back. they're fighting I doubt they'll figure it out for a few pay checks...

heh good thing you're in new zealand. It will be easy to take them to the employment relations authority.

So? Talk to the either boss - the one that fired you might hire you back if they knew it was the other's fault, and the one that gave you the orders might hire you back after you reveal what the other boss did. Don't let them play you for a tool.

Just sleep with the boss that fired you. They'll probably be willing to hire you again, although the other boss will probably then fire you again. In which case you sleep with THAT boss, thereby perptuating the cycle. It won't put bread on the table, but it will it will sure keep your meat fresh.

Absoultely #23 - take them to court for unfair dismissal and demand compensation for wages lost.
