The last to know

Today, my grandmother called me to tell me that there will be a nice, single guy for me to meet at the family reunion. She went on and on about how perfect he was for me. I didn't have the heart to tell her I'm a lesbian, and have been out to the rest of the family for over six years. FML

A guy at the family reunion? He's a family friend right?...and not a relative

Show it anyway

How can she deserve it? Sometimes people of that generation might not understand and I think OP would much prefer to have a good relationship with her nan because (apologies for being a bit depressing) she may not have long left and she might want to live her life to the full with her family rather than witnessing big family rifts because she doesn't agree with her granddaughters sexuality. :)

Just send her a video of you licking another girl's ******?

Granny certainly would know what a **** is after that..

What's the problem? Obviously, you can't marry a sibling, but some states allow first cousins to marry. Beyond that, it seems like everyone else is fair game. The idea of the genetics of breeding with distant relatives causing idiot offspring is overblown -- the true cause is TV :)

it is even allowed in all religions to marry any girl other than mother, grandmothers, mother's sister, father's sister, daughters. cousins are fine

Inbreeding is what caused the war of spanish succsession. while it might not have drastic effects first generation, its not really a good idea.

So... If both of you make the sandwiches... Who do you give them to? =

Or if you go to a restaurant and neither of you pay?

Or if you go to the cinema and both leave your purses at home?

Aw, she's just trying to be helpful. I think it's best to tell her, mate.

Relax OP. If this guy isn't single, he probably won't be interested anyway. He's probably there because he didn't want to say no to either your grandma or a family member, and if he's not family, the whole thing will be really awkward for him anyway. If he's the nice boy your grandma says, he'll probably be polite, and then you'll never see each other again.

Pretty much. Meet the guy, be nice, have a great time, and make clear to both this guy and grandma that it just won't work between the two of you. End of story. Meeting someone doesn't mean you'll be instantely shoved in a wedding dress and put in front of a priest.

(Though I don't know why you seem to imply he isn't single. Either way, it doesn't matter even if he is.)

To add to vencku, even if he was interested, OPs a lesbian...

She wouldn't be interested anyway* got a bit fast when typing! :)

I can relate to that, OP. My Grandma still denies the fact I am gay and am legally married to my husband.

Give the guy a chance. Maybe you'll switch teams ;)

Do you just comment numerous times and see which one floats?

Do you just comment to bother perdy's free will? Because i sometimes occasionally do, its fine me and perdix go way back! Right perdy?!

#41, no, I do it because some stories make me think of several things that are funny to me. I hope they all "float," as you put it, but if some people prefer one of them over the others, I'm OK with that.

Atleast she's looking out for you.
