Theater kid

Today, my theatre teacher made me go on stage even though I had a violent stomach flu. My understudies were unreachable, and she threatened to fail me if I did not perform. Halfway through the first act, I vomited on the first row. She failed me for letting the cast down. FML

Complain to the principal. That is totally out of line.

Your teacher's a bitch...an obvious but necessary comment!

you should have puked on her...give her what you have. I'd file a complaint. She can't fail you if you're sick beyond your control. And besides...it's HER responsibility to keep the understudies...that's what their job is - to be there in case the lead is SICK. this is all BS.

hhahaha 21 check who wrote 17 as well ;)

That director is a bitch! What the hell, she made you go up. You should take it up with the people above her head, really FHL over. Get her fired or threatened, yelled at, anything. But don't puke on her, that's just nasty. You should smack your understudies around though.

Sounds like she was the sort of teacher who wanted absolutely everything to be absolutely perfect. If she legitimately failed you in a way that is going to effect your grades, then you should definitely be going over her head. There's got to be someone that you can talk to and explain that what happened wasn't your fault, you tried to make your teacher understand you were sick, and she didn't listen.

That was really unprofessional on her part. If an actor is unable to perform and there are no understudies, the stage manager is supposed to read the part on stage. Failing that (which I would be shocked at since a theatre can't function without a stage manager. Though I suppose that might be why your understudies weren't around) she should have gone on herself and read the part. Either way, there's no excuse for threatening a violently sick actor onto stage, and then failing them for throwing up.

That blows...you shouldn't have gone and told your parents or something. Or gone to the dean and explained the situation. Then again...maybe they thought it was part of the act!
