Theater kid

By juliet - 06/04/2009 04:39 - Canada

Today, my theatre teacher made me go on stage even though I had a violent stomach flu. My understudies were unreachable, and she threatened to fail me if I did not perform. Halfway through the first act, I vomited on the first row. She failed me for letting the cast down. FML

Complain to the principal. That is totally out of line.

Your teacher's a bitch...an obvious but necessary comment!

I agree with #5 and comments like that. It looks like she wanted you to fail.

they're like that..the drama teacher at my high school said if you didn't show up for performance day in class, you failed, even if you were sick and running a fever and even if someone died and their funeral was that day. she was a **** and everyone hated her, but she got away with it anyway.

I'd have your parents complain to the principal, usually they don't really care what a kid says but if if you get mommy and daddy into it they pay attention.

You should have complained...then had your parents complain...then complain to the principal...enough complaining would have fixed it.

That just isn't fair, reasonable, considerate, or rational in any senses in any of any of those words. Stomach flus are the worst, no student should have to go through that. She should have failed the understudies for being unreachable when they were much-needed...isn't that what they're for? You need to talk to your principal, or have your parents talk to him, and have your grade changed. Theatre teachers are just psychotic sometimes, and need some sense shoved in their faces by someone more powerful then they are, or they'll go ahead and do things like this.

she should fail the understudy for letting the cast down, not you you couldn't help being sick. get well soon ^_^

This is clearly not true... why would you have understudies in a theater class?

you had BETTER take this up with the principal.. and i mean with your parents too. obviously, they won't take you as seriously unless you do. tell the principal the whole story, and don't whine. teachers like this need to be F-I-R-E-D. GET BETTER SOON!!!! :-) :-) (although, i'm assuming that this might have happened BEFORE today, considering how not many people would be surfing FML the day off, and i'm also assuming you wouldn't have had a show before 3:00 in the afternoon.)
