This ol' truck

Today, while driving, I realized I had left my phone on top of my car when I was getting in. Panicking, I drove back to look for it. I found it in the middle of the street, still intact. Yay! When I went back to my car, I noticed I had locked my door, and the keys were in the ignition. FML

This is why you never... EVER... leave the keys in the ignition when you get out of the car.

Who the **** puts their phone on top of their car when they're getting in? Don't most people have it in their pocket or in their bag?

wow. how do you not know that you left your cell phone up there? its such a typical thing to happen that people take extra care not to leave things on the roof

Oh, I pressed the "Show the Comment" button just to make sure you were still a tool. Yup, you are.

Isn't there a protection against this kind of thing? I thought there was something like that if there is a key in the ignition and you lock the door you can still open it the normal way.

well ... at least u have your phone to call some one (:

Was the car on the side of the road, or was it blocking something? Cuz if it was like, in a bus stop or in front of a fire hidrant then that would suck was worse.

Look on the bright side. At least you got your phone back and can call your car company =).

He's not a tool, he tells the truth. Most people who reply to the first post are fucktards that just want there comment to be seen at the top and they aren't really replying to him.

I don't get how the OP could lock her car without the key.

My car is older and all the locks are manual. I have a habit of pushing my lock closed when I open the handle (the lock is right by the palm of my hand when I open the door) so I suppose she could have done it like that if she didn't have auto locks. That being said, only dumbasses leave shit on the roofs of their cars. I've never left anything up there and I'm a woman. I have locked myself out of my car before though. But, men do that as well.

my dad once left his coffee mug on the roof of the car, drove to work, it stayed on for the whole 20 minute ride across the bridge, nobody honked to tell him, and within 5 mins from his office, makes a turn and it goes flying

Call a locksmith. At least you have your phone!
