Today, a cashier asked me if I would like to donate to breast cancer research. Since I have already made my donations this month, I politely declined. The cashier snorted and said, "Maybe you'll feel differently if someone you love got cancer." I'm a two-year survivor. FML

Cashiers like that are part of the reason why the rest of us get treated like shit, I'm sure. Our job as a cashier is to ring up items, make transactions, and in some stores, bag. Not to judge people or be a complete bitch about a customer's decision to donate or not donate. I hope you put him/her in their place.

The OP could've easily not have donated earlier that month or have not experienced breast cancer and this still would've been an FML. Guilt tripping others is one of the most obnoxious and arrogant things to do.

You really should have said "sorry, but I've already given for the month. Oh, and I do know someone who got cancer. Me. I'm a two year survivor." That would shut them up and make them feel awful for the rest of the day.

I hate ppl like that. It's called a donation because it's not required. It's not like if you don't donate every single time you are personally giving someone the disease.

Lodge a complaint with her manager. That is terrible customer service.

Congrats to you and being a two year survivor

I hope you told her that OP! Some people are ignorant assholes, who is she to judge you for not wanting to donate? Congratulations on being a two-year survivor!

Don't feel bad OP! You've won an hell of a battle and that's amazing! Plus you donated already, so there's absolutely no reason for you too feel upset. That cashier just happens to be a judgmental bitch.

I'm kind of shocked the cashier would jump to the conclusion that OP has never had a loved one with cancer, just because she doesn't want to donate. I hope they were reported by either OP or another customer who heard, because that's horrendously offensive and poor customer service.

Not fyl, f his life. You shouldn't feel bad! And you totally could've thrown it in his face and he'd be the one writing an fml!
