Something similar happened to my friend - some parents are just stupidly overprotective to the point that they can't understand a good (or in this case, lifesaving) gesture from another person... I hope this does not mean bad things for the kid in the future... Sorry op
Obviously if the child in this store was in the aisle alone the parent was NOT overprotective. Just stupid.
It was not your job to be looking out for her child. Luckily for her your quick actions prevented a parents worst nightmare. Well done!
Maybe you can try and explain? FYL anyway, though.
OP, I hope that incident doesn't result in any long-term problems for you, legally, or professionally. Know, however, that I, and many other people, consider you a hero for saving a child's life. You deserve a medal.
Things like this are the reason no one ever wants to try and help a stranger; why bother if its just going to backfire and get you in trouble? I think the world is turning into a very sad place.
Basic first aid tells you to ask a person for permission to touch them before they act. But if it's a child you ask the parent, however being that the child was alone OP did the right thing.
41, that's why the first instruction in any emergency situation is to shake the person (gently), ask "Are you ok?", and then if they don't respond immediately, start whatever procedure is needed. Unless, of course, they're in immediate danger, then you get them to safety first.
i know that i am a trained first aider. do you walk up and say "excuse me sir may i shake you to see if you are still concious?" all im trying to say is sometimes ita best to ask forgiveness than permission and in a high pressure situation like a firstnaid situation yoy dont always have time to seek permission.
I hope you appealed that! I would be so thankful if you helped my child! some parents are dicks and so is your boss for not finding out what actually happened. good on you though! just remember, you saved a life! :)

Hey OP. At least you saved a life. Many people would have just walked by
