Today, a homeless man bathed himself in the restroom at my coffee shop in West LA. He locked himself in there for a good twenty minutes. The lingering smell was so strong that my other coworker vomited. Thanks to what is apparently a relatively strong gag reflex, I got to clean up. FML

#4 and #5 you both obviously haven't had extended periods of time with the homeless. They gather around my university campus and do nothing but beg, yell, and grab random people for no reason. If you two are so high and mighty wishing this fate upon me because "I don't know their situation" why aren't you two out there personally helping the homeless? When was the last time you let a homeless dude into your house to bathe and gave him a meal? You're no different from everyone else who walks by them without a second glance, so stop pretending you're a better person by "sympathizing".

You think your life sucks, think about how the homeless guy must feel. He has to smell himself every day.

#50 have you never taken a class in either biology or psychology? Drug and alcohol addiction is a DISEASE. As in, something that the person has no control over. They don't think to themselves, "Gee, I have this little bit of money, but instead of using it to buy food I think I'll go buy some whiskey." They have a physical and mental addiction, meaning that their mind and body are telling them in no uncertain terms that they need the alcohol/drug more than food. Obviously, people can get help for these addictions, but that is MUCH harder if you're living in poverty and lack financial resources. Of course, at some point they took their first drink/hit/whatever, and that was a bad decision (at least in the case of hard drugs). However, can you honestly say you've never in your life made a mistake? Also, in some cases, addictive behaviors have a genetic component, meaning that a level of drinking that doesn't lead to alcoholism for one person could for the next person.

there's a guy like that who comes to the theatre i manage. we call him "Stinky Frank" and i always tell him paying customers only. but then when clean people come from the club next door because the bathrooms are crowded there i let them in without paying in front of him cause he can't do anything about. just makes me feel so warm. seriously dude just call the cops on them they'll stop coming, pepper spray is a nice alternative, but it costs money cops are free.

has anyone asked how the bathroom looked afterward?

I work in a hospital, and we get homeless people all the time. most of the time they just come in for a place to sleep/eat, props to you for letting him bathe. imagine having to smell it all the time!

Actually studies have shown that most true homeless people don't beg. The ones that do typically make around $80,000-130,000 a year and have nice homes. Its rare to see a true homeless begger. Beggers usually make a living off of it, and a better living than someone who is working

that would happen to us in west hollywood!

You're right about your life. It would have to be pretty bad to be worse than that of some poor guy who has no place to live and doesn't even have a bathroom. I suppose it is easier to go someplace you know you're not welcome and spend twenty minutes trying to take a bath in a sink than it is to keep from puking while cleaning up the stuff this guy's been living in. I mean really eeeeuck! He should get a good job in coffee shop like you, huh? Would he then have his very own bathroom or would he be living with your parents?

22 is right. I'd also be willing to bet that 95% of the people who read his comment had to go into Google and type in "Marxist" Oh I also want to mention, yeah, God forbid anyone in Los Angeles has to experience part of the real world. Sure the man is homeless but shouldn't you at least like the fact he's at least ******* TRYING to be clean despite having to sleep on the streets and probably sit in dumpsters when it rains?
