Today, a very pretty girl came up to me and asked me for my phone number. Very pleased, I give it to her with a huge smile and tell her that I can be reached at any time. I then watch her go back to her group of friends. My number was for her gay friend, who then meekly waved at me. FML

Just please be nice when and if he calls! Gay guys have assumed my husband is gay on a number of occasions, and he always takes it as a compliment--most gay guys have good taste. :-)

I get why people think its cute, but you're all missing the point. When someone asks for your number, you expect that they'll be the one to call, not some random person. Unless she told him the number was for her guy friend, what she did was very rude. Especially since the OP has to turn the guy down now.

**** me, I can't believe you were the only one who said this. I would have been livid, not because my number was sought by a gay guy, but because he and his friend decided to manipulate me in order to get it. It isn't a "compliment" or whatever, it's blatant manipulation, using a good looking female to get something for him that he assumed he couldn't get himself. Its not only rude, but its downright disrespectful, and it already destroys any notion of trust I would have in either of them personally. If she had explained that the number was for her male friend, then that opens up a dialogue, which could still conclude with the number being given, but not with any sexual/romantic intentions. This rant is years too late, but still, it pissed me off reading almost all these comments, and yours was the only one that spoke sense.

This was like me at my friends party, i was just at the corner of the room as my friend says "my friend really wants your number" so i give her my phone number and she passes it to her gay friend as he blushes very nervous, so i go over to him and greet him, he was really nervous but i wasnt as i continued to flirt with him, when he gave me his phone number i kissed him......that same guy now is my boyfriend

What's the point of a gay guy getting a girl to get guys' numbers for him? Most guys who'd give their number to the girl wouldn't be interested in guys.
