I'm a natural blonde and I'm no where near as stupid as I'm made out to be. I am also the only blonde girl out of my entire class so there are many jokes made about my hair colour. Why are blondes the dumb ones? Why can't it be brunettes or red heads?

Actually, the stereotype began with a blonde Miss America and her total inability to answer simple questions.

Apparently, the stereotyping is as follows: Blondes: dumb/most fun Brunettes: mysterious/intelligent Redheads: bitchy Do I believe any of this is true? Nope. But certain people's personalities match up with their stereotypes often, so I can see why people read the above stereotypes as if it's the law.

I'd thought redheads were feisty and kinky. Damn. Although, I have heard that redheads are harder to sedate and for medical procedures are given a bit extra to help keep them unconscious.

I would get all pedantic here and explain the origin of the dumb blonde stereotype but I don't want to reinforce the geek stereotype. I will just say that, of course, it started before Miss America and even before there was an America. (Hint: Look to the European nobility.)

100, the thing is, the stereotypes don't even fit. In fact, they're ass-backwards. The majority of the blondes I know are all good girls who study hard and do well in school. The people who repeatedly fail courses and just do badly in general almost always have brown/black hair.

One thing that I've learned, this is with girls I've met and grown up with, is the girls who bleach their hair blonde are the ones that will tend to be idiots. It's not that they're actually stupid, but when faced with a decision, a common reaction is, "Oh! Hehe, I'm blonde, can't you tell? What do you expect from me?" Where all the natural blondes I've met have been incredibly intelligent. It's all about what you believe you can be. If you think your hair color will affect your thinking, chances are, it will. Replace hair color with gender, race, or anything else, and give limits, there are those that will try to fit that stereotype, no matter how idiotic they may be.

148 - The stereotypes usually hold true from what I've seen, but I realize not everyone follows the stereotype. I know several bitchy and hot-headed redheads, but I also know some extremely nice ones. I'm a brunette and I'm a hot-head. I've seen moronic brunettes that no one cares to pay attention to, and I've also seen intelligent and mysterious brunettes. I've seen extremely intelligent blondes who aren't total *****, but the majority of them from my college and old high school are rather stupid, and slutty. I'm not saying that's the way the majority of blondes anywhere are; I'm just saying IME that's the way they are. I keep hoping that there are more intelligent/non-slutty blondes out there... I swear I'll meet more one day! RBG: Exactly. The intelligent blonde I was referring to has naturally blonde hair. The morons and ***** are usually bottle blondes.
