Today, after buying the plane ticket to Glendale, CA to visit 17 year old Courtney who I met on a dating website, she called me for the first time to say that she was actually 19 year old Seth from Atlanta, GA. FML

I'm sorry but what the hell is a Seth? Anyway, bad luck there. Lessons learned and YDI due to things you didn't do but it has nothing to do with going out and finding a girl in a bar or something. Those places normally have the chicks I don't want to date in them...

Who says the OP is a male? Seth could have been getting off on lesbian desires. Anywho I flew to Cali to see someone I met on myspace but I spoke to them through several different technologies for over 2 years and determine the person was who they said they were. I was 22 when I went and even had the person's personal info faxed to me and THEY ppaid for the ticket.

Dude,the first rule of online dating: Search within your area. 50 miles is the recommended limit. 2. There is nothing wrong with online dating if done with caution. ALWAYS talk to them first before you decide to spend money on them... Also use "DATING SITES" like match.com. Myspace doesn't count and neither does Friendster or Hi5. 3. We need to know your age. If you're over 21 and looking for a 17yr old, that is legally defined as statutory rape. It's not exactly paedophilia since I think once they hit 16, it goes into the statutory rape area. So on this count,if you're over 21,then YDI MUCHO!!!!! 4. CHRIS HANSEN!!! 5. If you live in or around Atlanta, see if Seth will hang out with you. Who knows? You could become good friends. Keep looking but for someone over 18. I met my current boyfriend online and we get along well and he only lives about 5 miles from me. So online dating isn't all bad; it just makes it easier to meet people you wouldn't have met offline.
