Today, I went out to meet a wonderful woman I'd chatted with online. I did have a few fears about if she was really just some guy trying to make a fool out of me. When I met her, she really was a girl, and was happy to see me. Problem: she was actually 13. I'm 34. FML

You guys need to look up the definition to "pedophile" before calling people that. All but like 2 people were wrong. If he is 18 then he can meet a 17yo "girl." But YDI for never having spoken to this person. Get your ass off the computer and go OUT and meet real life people!

Wow everyone, nice assumptions about statutory rape. Because everyone on the internet is 30 or older. If I had a dollar for every time I saw a comment on here from someone who's in middle school or high school... COME ON, people. Is it that hard to believe that there are WAY more normal, gullible teenage boys on this site than there are sex offenders? Besides, yes, 16 is the legal age in most states. You all just have selective hearing on what you want to believe.

regardless of how old you are you shouldn't be talking with the intention of dating anyone online under the age of 18 because 1) they shouldn't be online looking for relationships until theyre 18 and 2) they could be a 19 yr old male...ydi

FYL. Although it was perhaps a bit daft of you to choose somebody so far away: if you're going to date online, make it somebody nearby, or somebody in a place you'll visit anyway. That way, if you get tricked, no harm done.
