Today, after months of being pestered to do so, I finally read the first Harry Potter book. I hated it. Upon hearing this, my girlfriend posted the fact on Facebook, where I immediately received tons of abuse and eventual shunning by my friends, family, and coworkers. My girlfriend just laughed. FML

Today, my boyfriend finally convinced me to watch Harry Potter for the first time. I was bored out of my mind the entire time, and by about an hour in, all I could think about was how badly I wanted to punch Hermione for being a rude little know it all. FML

Today, my daughter turned 11. Since she LOVES Harry Potter, I decided to write her an acceptance letter to Hogwarts. When she saw the letter, she screamed and showed me. When she found out I wrote it, she told me she hated me, started crying, and stepped on my foot. FML

Today, It's been a few months since I started reading the Harry Potter books to my daughter. She told me a list of all her favorite characters. I didn't have the heart to tell her that every single one of them dies by the end of the seventh book. FML

I love Harry POtter and if someone didn't like it or hadn't read it I would be like WHHAT.. but actually it is down to preference and it is perfectly okay not to like it. I hope your friends were saying it jokingly - it doesn't always come across well on the internet. Don't worry - they aren't going to ditch you just because you don't like Harry Potter. Hopefully they will respect you more as you stand up for what you think. You don't have to pretend to like it. And btw - the books get better as the characters get older and the plot thickens (in my opinion). ;)
