I personally believe that the first book isn't all that great either. I mean, I LOVE all the other books. Sorcerer's Stone just wasn't as descriptive or captivating as the other six books. That is probably just because it was her first book of the amazing series so she hadn't really gotten the hang of the Harry Potter's plot, characters, and everything else. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't the best. Although, it was very clever of J.K. Rowling to think of making the snake that Harry lets out in the first book turn out to be Nagini and the whole voldemort meaning flight of death was genius as well.

That's you, then. Not everyone will love everything. I didn't start reading the series until late 2011 after I'd turned 25. I was given the first two and quickly bought the next three and then got the last two. Finished the series in three months. I actually enjoyed "Sorcerer's Stone" enough to want to read it on its own again, which I did earlier this year, then I wound up re-reading the entire series. "Pig snout!"

That's awful OP. However I recommend you keep reading. the books get WAY better as the series moves on. If you get through book 2 and 3 and still hate the series I'd say you really don't like it.
