Today, after months of being pestered to do so, I finally read the first Harry Potter book. I hated it. Upon hearing this, my girlfriend posted the fact on Facebook, where I immediately received tons of abuse and eventual shunning by my friends, family, and coworkers. My girlfriend just laughed. FML

I love Harry Potter, but.. that is just not right. I mean, all the abuse you got. I have several friends who don't like Harry Potter. It's their choice. I don't care. I like it, it's all that matters.

I don't blame you, OP. The series sucks. I tried to read it and fell asleep after three pages. I won't touch the books or the movies. But on topic, just because you have a different taste doesn't mean you deserve to be ridiculed, threatened, harassed, etc. That's very immature of the people doing it, which if they're fans, that proves they're just as immature as some Twilight fans can be, except they get ridiculed for defending what they enjoy. That being said, you did not deserve to have this happen to you, and if I were you, I'd leave the stupid girlfriend who forced you into doing something you didn't want to do, who then subjected you to cyber bullying (in a sense) and stood idly by and laughed about it. She's an immature Potterhead and you deserve better. How old is she, ten? /facepalm

I agree. To me, the books and movies are stupid. My grandmother loves them and has all of them but I won't go near them. An OP should ditch the Gf because that's ****** up she put you through that crap then stood by and laughed as you got made fun of, just because you don't like something she does.
