Today, after much self-doubt and awkwardness, I learned that I look amazing in a little black dress. Now I have to figure out what I'm going to tell my wife. FML

OP here. Thanks for the support, everyone - I have told her, and, while she's definitely not into it, at least she doesn't plan to leave me over it. To those of you wondering whether I'm a transvestite, a crossdresser, a transexual, or transgendered - there are waaay too many of these names, and it's confusing. How about I explain it this way: I'm a girl on the inside, and I'm still attracted to girls (a lesbian, perhaps?). I don't mind my body, and I don't mind wearing men's clothes (heck, it's what I grew up with), but I'd like to see what more is out there... I've been hiding it and ignoring it and thinking I'm wrong for a long time, but my control is obviously slipping.

I have to say...I was NOT expecting that ending. I was expecting the FML to end with something about ruining the dress or some sort of self esteem issue. Lol

Just come out wearing it! You never know it may get her excited!

Where's wardo? Gone, his comment was moderated! :D

Reading this FML and all the comments all I can think is what the **** is this world coming too?

"Honey, does this dress make my ass look fat". *Twirls*

It's more common than you've been told.

Pictures! ....for science of course....

Do whatever feels right, OP. Full support from this random stranger!

Well OP you have your wife's support, so don't listen to anyone else and just own that shit.

Be whoever you're meant to be, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Be true to yourself, OP, but be true to your wife as well. Don't lie to her, okay? You're both better than that.

If it's who you feel you really are then it is not wrong. So happy your wife is so open minded and I hope things work out for the best. Remember to always pursue what feels right. So rock that LBD! :)

You have every right to do what makes you happy! It's not harming your health or anyone else's, and if you look fabulous in a little black dress, rock that shit! Everyone has a fetish or whatever you might call it, and no one should look down on you... I just have one question... how well do you walk in heels?

Hey there...good luck with it, I hope you discover who you are. You might want to consider therapy with someone who specializes in gender issues in order to sort out your feelings. I'm not an expert by any means but the "girl on the inside" comment suggests to me some level of being transgendered. Plenty of trans-women are attracted to women; I'm not sure of the statistics but it seems like more transwomen are attracted to women than to men. Again, a good therapist can help you sort all of that out. Good luck and I hope your wife remains supportive!

Do whatever makes you happy. Forget labels, you don't owe anything to anyone. Spend time figuring out things out for yourself, rather than worrying about what other people think. It doesn't matter what gender you identify as - wear what you like, do what you like, date who you like. Just, in this case, look out for yourself first.

You do you, and do it well man.

Congrats, OP, on being able to tell your wife and not hide it anymore!

go you :3 I wish my boyfriend wore girls clothes -sigh- but he couldn't get them off me. I'm a cross dresser, so we share clothes.

I think you're right; sounds like you're a lesbian that got the wrong chromosomes. Good luck, I hope things go well for you.

OP, you are your own person. Seeing you live that out is probably giving a lot of people hope in this cruel world. Just be yourself.

You my friend need some serious help, I'm sorry to say this but it's true. Everyone knows red would be a better look! But who am I to judge? Congrats on the wife being beside you on this, sounds like a wonderful woman.

*many hugs* Good luck with everything. :) And it sounds like you're either transgender or transsexual, since if you were just a cross-dresser/transvestite you wouldn't feel like a girl. As someone else said, you might wanna see a therapist or counselor to help you feel better or something and stuff. I'm phrasing this terribly, but either way, I very much wish you well.

Y'know what? If that's what you're into, you wear that motherfucking dress and you look awesome in it.

The term you want is probably lesbian trans woman. Good for you making the jump. I hope everything goes well with your wife. Now go be awesome.

You don't have to label yourself. Be happy with who you are.

Let me help you. Got a dick? You're a male. Problem solved.

I figure that guys that like women's clothes do so because there are more kinds of fabrics, colours and styles so they can be more creative and expressive. All my shirts and pants are men's XL and usually dark. Due to my job and coordination issues, I trash my clothes. I could never wear a little black dress - I'm too damn big!

Just don't cheat on your awesome wife.

#186 all evidence suggests you are a total *******. Please shut the **** up. OP - you just do you, you'll be ok!
