Today, after playing on the same basketball team for eight years with the same coach, he kicked me off the team to make room for my younger brother, who I taught to play basketball in the first place. FML

That sucks! Well I don't blame the coach though.

If he's better than you then it's understandable. You should feel proud that your teachings landed him a spot on the team. Quit bitching!

You must be a really good teacher?

The student has become the master. WAX ON, WAX OFF BIATCHH!!!11one

i love that not one person noticed that he said 8 YEARS ON THE SAME TEAM. unless you're playing in the NBA, who the **** cares. quit your bitching OP.

Doesn't it take everyone eight years to learn that you're not supposed to dribble with two hands?

does it take u eight years to learn what a dumbass u r

OP shouldn't teach someone how to play if they don't want them to be better :P

students learn all they know from teachers. teachers never teach all they know to students. it's an unwritten code

What? are you serious? Thats his little brother? I know that feeling teaching siblings sports then they get better than you and start outshining you but at least that's your sibling and you can have some comfort knowing that at least you taught them most of what they know. YDI OP for being there to teach him.

Yeah, how the hell dare you teach your little brother? Who are you to help your brother become a better player? Why would you ever be looking out for a teammate in basketball? They lie when theey say there's no "i" in teiam.

That's how it goes, out with the old, in with the new :/

and that's why you should never teach someone everything you know ....

You can't teach someone natural talent. If it's really been eight years, you should be more than aware of your level of play. It's a sports team, you don't get to hang around because you've got seniority when there are younger, better players around.

Agreed with #15. OP may have taught his brother the basics of the game and practiced with him but time and talent may have taken over. Some people are just built for the game and have great coordination, etc. When someone like that puts in a lot of practice, there is no stopping him. OP, nobody keeps a player on the team for sentiment and your brother probably didn't realise you would be cut. See if you can take on some sort of assistant coaching role.
