Today, after spending weeks working on a song that meant a lot to me, I reluctantly posted it online. The "friend" who'd convinced me to post it, commented, "This is the worst shit I've ever heard." He got 30 likes, along with a barrage of agreeing, equally terrible comments. FML

Be proud you had the courage to post it. Also, your friend is a dick.

Don't give up, op. You'll have negative reactions to anything you do, but what your "friend" did was unnecessary.

Unfortunately hard work doesn't necessarily mean a good product. :/

If everyone hates your song, maybe your so-called friend isn't the one to blame. When you see performers on stage doing things easily and effortlessly, it's really a product of many years of practice, struggle and failure. You need to thicken your skin and join a songwriting workshop, or get the **** out of the business.

Some great albums were panned by critics when they came out, but the fans loved them: The Rolling Stones – Exile On Main St for example. As long as you're passionate, keep refining what you do.

Someone is always going to dislike someone elses form of expression. Be proud. Someone out there will appreciate your time and effort

Your friend is a loser. Don't feel bad OP, just because some moron decided to be cruel doesn't make the song any less meaningful. It's great that you have a passion and were open enough to post it online; there's lots of people out there who will enjoy it, even if your so-called "friend" doesn't.
