Today, after telling my mother-in-law about my recent miscarriage, she cheerfully made a cake to celebrate. FML

A hard slap on her face is also another way to celebrate.

Mother-in-law or if you rearrange the letters, Woman Hitler. FYL that's terrible.

She must have misheard. A hard slap on the side of the face will usually rectify that.

Why would she celebrate a dead grandbaby? That is beyond screwed up.

Now you know if you ever give birth, to not include that horrid woman in your child's life.

Honestly as one who has personal family experience. Depends on how old you are... If your over 21 then she's a bitch. If your under 18 she's within her rights to be released... If your somewhere in the middle it's a toss up depending on weather or not your married and if you got married bc of the pregnancy...

She is married. I would assume over 18.

Because even someone under eighteen deserves a miscarriage and a disrespectful cake to celebrate, right?

No. Age has nothing to do with it. NOTHING can justify making a cake to celebrate a miscarriage, especially not your daughter-in-law's. This woman is just sick.

I don't care if they're not married and 16. A miscarriage is never something to celebrate. It's a painful and emotionally distressing experience and you sure as hell don't bake a cake to celebrate someone losing their child.

Don't be upset, everyone reacts differently to upsetting information...this just might be the only way she knows how to try and help you through this....

Sorry for your loss. I hope your husband told her exactly where she could shove that cake.

I hope you're ok. I'm sorry for your loss. :(

What the hell is her damn problem? I don't have kids, but I'm sure as anything that a miscarriage is a horrific event for a woman; including her partner. Speak to your husband about what happened and I suggest you never speak to her again. I hope your husband steps up for you. She's a low-life. I'm sorry for your loss OP and that you have to put up with people like that in your family. I hope everything works out.

In her defense she probably thought you won Miss. Carriage of the baby carriage female modelling exhibition. Or she's a bitch. Sincerely sorry for your loss.
