Today, after the longest time, I went to the gym. I ran and ran and ran on the treadmill for an eternity, beating myself up for getting so overweight. Then I tripped and fell off, sweating and sobbing for being so useless. When I looked up, I saw I'd been on the machine for barely 2 minutes. FML

Today, I joined a gym. I’m overweight and not very athletic, so I was nervous. I looked around and tried a treadmill. I start walking at a chill pace, then got ambitious and cranked it to a "light jog." Within seconds, I tripped, fell, and sent the emergency stop button flying across the room. The gym staff ran over and I swear someone said, “Well, at least he’s trying.” FML

Soon those two minutes will turn into twenty. You are putting the effort in, which is more than a lot of people can say for themselves.

Don't worry about being overweight and going to the gym. At least people can see you are actively trying to pursue a goal. Keep your head up OP! :)

Don't worry about starting from the bottom, OP. Losing and keeping weight off is a marathon, not a sprint. Build stamina and muscle, that's key. It does get easier, just don't give up! You can do it, OP!

Everyone has to start somewhere. You're there trying to get in shape, which counts for a lot.

Whenever I see overweight people at the gym, I have a lot of respect for them. I'm naturally thin so I can't imagine how frustrating it is to put off weight. I just wanna remind you there are other forms of cardio to help lose weight, running isn't everybody's friends. Look into jogging outside or HIIT! Also remember that a healthy diet plays a huge role in weight loss/gain.

Congrats on going to the gym. Please don't beat yourself up for being overweight. Don't give up. You're doing the right thing.

Gotta work your way up! Good for you for taking initiative!

No matter what you are doing or where you are in life fitness you are always lapping the people on the couch

OP, being an experienced runner myself, one of the biggest things I can say is that running is hard. Even I have had moments where I feel like I suck at the sport, that I will never be as good as I want to be. It takes so much strength to get through these mental pains. Once you acquire that strength, you will be able to improve beyond your wildest dreams. Go get 'em, OP!

2 becomes 3, 3 becomes 4, and 4 becomes 5. You'll get there
