Today, after three and a half years of working dead-end jobs with a bachelor's degree, I got a call from a potential employer in my degree field, who wanted to set up an interview. The problem: the interview is across the country, and I'm too broke to pay the travel expenses. FML

Skype interview. Much cheaper.

And in chimes Alanis Morisette.

Borrow the money or ask them to interview you via Skype.

Feel sorry for you, however if you really are deserving & find no solution, I am willing to sponsor your travels

This is what happens when you get a degree for the sake of getting one. Go back to school and learn something with math and science, not English

You don't want that job if they are too cheap to cover travel expense. Anytime I had to leave the state for an interview, the potential employer paid for the plane ticket.

Ask them for a Skype interview. I once had an interview at a resort across the country, and after my interview, they offered to pay for the flight out there and have it come off my paycheck in installments... it sure beat having no job! Best of luck to you OP. I hope everything works out!

Regardless of your degree, you need a plan while you are still in school. Any degree is employable, if you get work experience to match it. Every summer job I took served to open opportunities for future employment based upon what I was taking. The dollar value of the job was irrelevant, as you make more money in the long run if you get the work experience to match your education.

Life ain't easy dude, borrow some money and go for it, if you don't get the job then come back here and post another fml.

Been there... They should be able to do a phone interview or Skype. Another idea is for them to, at least, split the travel expenses with you if not pay for it completely.

Going from where to where? An airline employee might be able to help.
