Today, after three and a half years of working dead-end jobs with a bachelor's degree, I got a call from a potential employer in my degree field, who wanted to set up an interview. The problem: the interview is across the country, and I'm too broke to pay the travel expenses. FML

with your drive You will find a good career.

Obama has promised to address this issue, don't worry.

What issue? Your double posting I hope.

Then why would you apply at a cross country position?

Why apply to a job that is across the country, when you know you cannot afford the trip there?

Thank Mr. Obama for such a good economy.

Yes, because clearly our economy was fine and dandy before he got elected and it couldn't possibly be somebody else's fault. Your logic stinks. It's like having someone be the captain of the Titanic after it already began sinking and then blaming it all on them.

Jesus Christ, does anyone ever use common sense anymore? Just ask them if you could do the interview over videochat, because you're having financial issues at the moment and can't afford two trips to the location. You know, as in the second trip AFTER YOU GET THE JOB BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T A DIMWIT.

If she doesn't have the money to go for one interview, what makes you think she'll have the money to move out there after the video chat?

You have issues. You're commenting on a site called FML. Common sense, now that's funny!

Sorry, I was in a bad mood last night and... Well, I suppose that kind of translated over into FML. What I was saying is that OP could probably manage to somehow scrape up the money for the move, even if it's by getting a loan from a bank or family member. Most employers tend to be pretty reasonable, especially when the person they're interviewing lives across the country. If OP was to calmly (y'know, unlike I did up there) explain her financial situation but that she would be willing to do what it takes to actually get TO the job... Well, I'm pretty sure they'd be willing to interview her over webcam. After that, OP could, like I said, get a loan and make her move.

I misread this as "Today, after three and a half years of walking dead-end" and feared that the show was cancelled. Thank goodness it isn't!
