Today, an American lady here in Ireland asked me if I was a Leprechaun. Thinking she was joking, and me being quite "vertically challenged," I decided to just say yes. She then grabbed me and made me endure photographs, cuddles and pats on the head from all her fellow tourists. FML

To those of you who are American, please stop apologising and feeling bad, I actually found that lady and her friends quite amusing so they made my day. And what's more the story got published on here, that's more exciting than a pot of gold any day

As an American, a little part of me just died inside.

Oh behalf of Americans who aren't complete morons; I apologize for you having to endure such humiliation.

No, I am not apologizing. There are dumbasses all over the world and they don't just come from here. Next time say no. Please say no. I don't think you understand how many people will take you seriously if you say yes.

You should've made some money off of her stupidity, charged five dollars per photo or something. If people are going to be complete idiots everyone else should be able to benefit from it at least.

The majority of Americans that go on tours of Ireland maxed out their credit cards to afford it. I wouldn't call them smart.

Where is my pot of gold Mr Lepricaun? :-)

Just tell the truth. Or just say it super sarcastically.

Being American I feel some second hand embarrassment. Though some Americans aren't all that intelligent. Like I was talking to a German exchange student and she said someone asked her which state Germany was in. Someone else asked her if Germany had computers and phones.

Someone needs to take a better look at their education system.

I'm really embarrassed to be American sometimes. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry...

greenday made an album about it. its called american idiot.
