Today, as I was trying to remove my lunch from the hot oven tray, my finger brushed against the metal for a moment, and I instinctively put it in my mouth. I burnt my tongue, on my finger. I didn't realize that was possible. FML

It's just a transfer of a large amount of heat/energy. Put it under cold water next time to avoid blisters!

I guess you're smoking hot huh? But yea I bet that had to suck

not sure whom to blame for the burnt tongue...

actually instead of cold water you're supposed to use room-temperature water on it

Black tea is miraculous when it comes to soothing burns. I use orange pekoe because that's all I usually have on hand. Put the tea bag in a small bowl of cold water, let it soak for few seconds, then hold your burnt finger against the tea bag while in the water. The cold water feels good, and the black tea pulls the heat from the burn. And I guess you could brew up some strong, cold, black tea as well and gargle it in your mouth to soothe that burn too. Never tried that before though. Feel better!

It might sound weird but mustard works wonders. It takes the stinging away and doesn't give you water blisters.

Ouch ? use oven mittens next time!!!!
