Today, at 3:00 am, I sat with my 3 year-old daughter while she tried to go back to sleep. She'd had a nightmare, and I'd read that "not leaving" was the most important thing a father could do. My wife woke and called me a pervert for sitting there. FML

Hopefully she was just joking? And, I mean, it was 3am, she was probably out of it anyway. No worries, you did the right thing and it's good that you're not letting her come into your own bed when those things happen because then they'll do it all the time. That's how it was with my brothers, atleast.

If she's serious, then she's clearly not cut out for parenthood - certainly not adoption. She's your DAUGHTER, and the fact you adopted shouldn't make a difference - your wife should understand, and shouldn't even be able to CONSIDER that. You should leave her, both because she doesn't appreciate and understand you AT ALL, and because she clearly doesn't feel the same way as you do about the adoption.

I'm going to Go against what every one is saying here.... By saying that it is your adopted daughter, means that you may have just got her, or maybe it lets the readers (us) know that there could be something wrong with the child. I know from experience that alot of times children that are put up for adoption come from really bad back grounds, maybe his daughter is a crack baby and is having withdraws, and nightmears from her past home. Not leaving your daughter is important. And what is so wrong with watching your child sleep or making sure that they fall asleep??? even if i'm babysitting and someone else kid is crying and is scared and can't fall asleep.. i'm going to stay with them till they do!!! For your wife to call you a perv that was mean. Maybe she isn't as good of a parent as you are.... and for every one that dissagrees with me... My mother teaches parenting classes, and has worked with CPS for a long time, i know what i'm talking about people. Stop giving this guy a hard time. He probably wont even read these comments.

next time make her ass get up and go sit with her the & you stay in bed, comfy, resting, unpervertedly. when she gets pissed that you won't get up, remind her that last time you did, you were called a pervert, so that means it's only appropriate for the adult female to sit with her.

Your wife is a stupid bitch. And people wonder why men are hesitant to get close to their kids thanks to the whole "OMGPEDO!" hysteria floating about. Anyway, I think anyone who shows compassion to their kids is a good parent, you included.
