Today, at a soccer game held by my girlfriend's family, some idiot went to kick the ball, missed by a mile, and hit the ground hard. So I started a slow, sarcastic clap. I got a load of angry looks, followed by verbal abuse when we found out he'd split his head open on the ground. FML

It appears you didn't learn your lesson. Accidents happen in the field, it doesn't make someone an "idiot". It does make YOU one for being a base, judgmental asshole. Next time you're ostracized for being a dick, try learning to not be a dick. Or don't, and forever be less than you could be.

I like how people like to throw around the term bullying for everything now. He came here and ridiculed someone by calling them an idiot, while telling us a story of how he was called out for ridiculing that same person. Of course people are going to react negatively, and strongly. OP is in complete control of this. if he stops behaving inappropriately people will cease to belittle him. As it sits hes getting a taste of his own medicine. OP should take heed because that kind of behavior can get you hurt if someone doesn't like you making fun of thier son/daughter/sister/brother getting hurt.

I agree. the term bullying is thrown around way too much. the fact of the matter is, OP stated something disrespectful he did to his girlfriends family. OP knew all to well he would be getting negative feedback. It was a dick move and he was a dick about it. We aren't telling him to drink bleach....

Your life totally sucks, I mean if that guy hadn't gone and actually gotten hurt you would have looked so awesome and her whole family would have been so jealous of her for getting to date you. It totally sucks that loser went and stole your thunder. But keep at it, you'll get your chance to show what an awesome person you really are.
