Today, at exactly midnight, I get a text from my boyfriend saying we were done. I had just seen him 4 hours ago when we were out celebrating my birthday, and asked why he didnt just tell me then. He replies 'I couldn't break up with you on your birthday but i wanted it to be over ASAP' FML

I've been in a similar situation before... her family abused me and my parents, treated me like a child, and said awful things behind my back... all the while my girlfriend never stood up for me, so on my birthday last year, 23rd, her parents threaten to call the police to tell them my family and I are holding her against her will. She was 19 at the time. Yeah, I quit a two year relationship just because her parents are retarded. Oh, when I thought we were working things out, he was with a redneck named Floyd... and ow I'm sort of with her again... FML? Probably so. YDI? Definitely.

I did this to my ex-boyfriend. I had the decency to call him I guess...better than texting. I hadn't even planned on dumping him but at his party he pushed me over the edge. So a little after midnight I called him and dumped him. It was at least by chance after midnight. That's when I decided to. It could've been ten minutes before and I wouldn't have cared and done it anyway but it didn't hit me until right about midnight how much I DIDN'T want to be with him.

#2 and # 45 are idiots. yeah you totally deserved to get broken up with by TEXT MESSAGE. yes he probably had his reasons but, but you know nothing about the situation why would you just assume she deserved the breakup? at least he didn't do it on your birthday, technically, but if he was a descent human being he would have waited til the next morning and done it in person. what a wuss...

Well, at least he respected that it was your birthday. I had a very close friend argue nonsense with me and "dump' me on my birthday once and it was maybe my worst birthday ever. And just imagine: "Today it's my birthday. My boyfriend sent me a Hallmark break-up card as a gift. FML" Sounds worse, doesn't it? FYL though. Just because it's one day past your birthday doesn't make it any better.
