Today, at lunch, my seven-year-old daughter and I had a chat. I asked her if she had a sweetheart. She said, "My sex life is none of your business." FML

She probably just heard it somewhere and doesn't know what it means, other than it's somehow related to having a sweetheart.

She's well on her way to getting on "16 and Pregnant," if she can hold out that long.

Parents like to know what their kids are into. It was a relatively benign question.

she probably doesnt understand those words , she might feel like sex is holding hands or something. i hope lol

Not to be that guy, but you're the one who raised them so...

Prefacing your comment with things like "not to be that guy" is like starting with "no offense, but..." You clearly had every intent of being "that guy," in this situation. Otherwise you wouldn't even have bothered making the comment, let alone with that lame attempt at softening the blow.

I have an 8 year old daughter and I can't imagine her saying that to me. But, then again, I can't imagine asking if she has a sweetheart. Why rush these things? Your child is 7. Little boys and little girls should be her friends, not love interests.

Kids say the darnest things? Let's hope so.

Kids really do say the darndest things. In all seriousness, make sure she doesn't repeat that at school or anything.
