Today, cops showed up at my apartment demanding to look inside. Satisfied with the search, they told me they had received a noise complaint. More specifically, hearing screams someone believed a girl was getting raped. I had two friends over and we had been wrestling. The three of us are male. FML

I don't think you were just wrestling...

Well, at least they knew that there wasn't a girl involved...

pretty sure they needed a warrant to get in your house...

Why shouldn't he have let the police in? True, they didn't have a warrant, but he wasn't doing anything illegal and it resolved the confusion quickly. There's no reason to be unnecessarily antagonistic. Last time I checked, the OP couldn't be arrested for shrieking like a girl.

Next time use some lube. And no, the police do not need to a warrant if they have reason to believe someone is in danger. http://www.legalzoom.com/legal-articles/house-search-without-warrant.html

There might have been a girl being raped, but the police were sent to the wrong house. In a couple hours, someone will probably post "Today, some guy broke into my house and raped me. I screamed as loud as I could. Someone heard and called the cops, The cops arrived, but entered the apartment across the street. FML"

#15: you can obviously see their attempt at being funny.

#34, I agree. Thats what I was trying to say. As long as you aren't doing anything wrong, why bother being a dick and not letting the cops in. They are just trying to do their job, which is protecting people.

We have civil rights in this nation, and if you chose not to use them, it's your fault.

YDI for the noise. Whether or not it sounded like a girl being raped obviously you guys were making enough noise to disturb the neighbors. Therefore the visit is warranted. (and i guess that means one of you screams like a girl)

As for them searching the place... Probable Cause will work. Plus it sounds like they asked and you let them in... therefore they even need either excuse. Additionally, even if they didn't think it was rape, they legally had the right to knock and ask you to keep the noise down.
