Will you people stop bashing? People are different. People perspire at much different rates and have different amounts of hair grease, and some don't need to shower every day. In fact, too much showering can damage your skin. Is your boyfriend Asian? Because this is especially true for Asians. I'm Asian, I sweat very little even after rigorous exercise, shower once every 2-3 days, never used deodorant in my life, and have never had a problem with keeping clean. Learn to see difference. But once a week is probably not enough.
OK, so for all you people who are freaking out...it's really not that bad. I shower every day because I need to, but my boyfriend can EASILY go a week+ without showering and you'd never know. His hair doesn't look greasy, he doesn't smell (and he doesn't even wear deodorant), and he doesn't appear dirty in any way. Water is a commodity and isn't something that we have endless amounts of, so if someone doesn't need to shower every day, he or she shouldn't. Also, once you get older, your oil production goes down and showering once a week becomes very normal. So calm down, little teenie-boppers, you will survive without boyfriends that shower every day.
Well, it really differs how often people NEED to shower. I've worked one summer in an old people's home where some of the inhabitants only showered once a week (they got sponge baths the other six days) and you couldn't smell them. Of course, they were just sitting around all day and didn't exercise. But there were also some who got a shower every day and you could still smell their BO at the end of the day, because they just got smelly very fast. How much you sweat and how much your sweat reeks differs from person to person and also depends on how active you are. As for the person who says 'hair gets greasy overnight': not for everyone. I shower almost daily but I only wash my hair two or three times a week (the other days I wear a showercap) because otherwise it gets really dry and brittle, and it never looks greasy. But my boyfriend really does need to wash his hair every day because the grease starts to show about 30 hours after he washed it. It depends on how much sebum your skin produces. But OP's boyfriend is probably a young man and young men tend to sweat a lot and produce rather much sebum. So probably showering once a week won't be enough for him.
In Birmingham you're what we call a 'bitch'
But it IS normal for people to freak out when they're not used to such habits. I mean, at least for me it's an enormous cultural shock. As I said in my comment, I knew that in some places people showered once every 2-3 days, but once A WEEK really shocks me. Even though it's a hard for me to think of addopting this to my life, I can find acceptable the once every 2-3 days thing as long as the person lives in a cold country. But sorry, a week is way too much for my little tropical mind. Can't stand the thought.
Ive gone ten days without a shower...but then again, there was no shower xp
