Today, I agreed to lend my daughter's inflatable pool to my neighbor for the day. Barely an hour later, I witnessed his son jump off their balcony, missing the pool by inches. He's now in hospital, and my neighbor has sworn to sue me, saying I'm responsible because the pool is mine. FML

Counter sue him for the distress and trauma that you and your pool suffered from having to watch it.

I dont think theyll be able to get much out of it unless they have a good lawyer.

Right. Let him try. Apparently the neighbor is as dumb as his son.

That can't hold up in court, can it? Anyway sorry to hear about your neighbors serious consition...stupidity.

It is not your fault what happened to the child as the child decided to jump of the balcony.

With that situation, there was an obvious assumption of risk. They don't have any standing.

Stupid parents' stupid kids and their frivolous lawsuits. Ridiculous. Kid should of been swallowed

You are in no ******* way responsible for his/her kid's own stupidity, and I really hope you manage to reason with him/her. If s/he tries to sue anyway, the lawyer will make him/her pay just to be laughed at.

As a legal beagle myself, there is no way a court would proceed with such a claim. They have no case whatsoever. Pool was off your property, they assume all inherent risks associated with pools. Even if the kid died, you would have nothing to worry about.
