Today, I bought a new goldfish. While leaving my fish on my balcony to go get fish food, I hear a loud squawk and splash, I race outside to see a bird flying off with my fish. FML

Today, I bought a new Siamese Fighting Fish. I was so happy with my new fish so I bought him an expensive lovely bowl, some weeds, and a toy for the bowl. I left the room to get the fish food. When I returned, the fish was gone, and the cat was sitting on the table. FML

Today, I heard a loud crashing noise. I ran into the kitchen to see what it was. My cat had knocked over my fish bowl and had my Beta in her mouth. After scolding her and rescuing it, I decided to clean its bowl. When I went to dump some of the water in the sink, my fish went down the drain. FML

Today, I was walking to the pet store to buy a month's worth of fish food for my fish so I wouldn't have to come back for a while. For fish food it was expensive. It was also surprisingly heavy and I had to carry it back to my house. When I got home, I saw my fish floating at the top of its bowl. FML

Today, I bought a fish. I put the tank on top of the fridge so my cat wouldn't get at it. I'd forgotten to buy some things for its tank, so I quickly ran out to get them. When I got home, I saw the tank destroyed on the floor, and my cat devouring my fish. I had the fish for less than an hour. FML

Today, I was taking a poop when I heard a window in my house break. Then, I heard things dropping upstairs. I decided to stay in the bathroom, which has a lock, and called the cops. Turns out it was just a bird that was trying to get at my fish in the fish tank that I have in my room. FML

Today, I was caring for a bird that had flown into my window. I thought the poor thing wouldn't make it, when it shit in my hand, flew into my neck, then around my living room for ages before I could manage to get it out of the window. FML

How would it have cracked? I'm assuming that OP put the fish bowl on a table of some sort on the balcony, because I don't think OP would have put it on the railing.Unless a big cardboard box or piece of garbage comes flying by, it wouldn't have fallen off or anything. But still, ydi, OP, because you are supposed to leave the fish in it's bag it came in for at least 30 min.

YDI big time, OP. When you buy fish, you're supposed to leave it in it's original bag in its tank for at least 30 minutes for it to get used to the temperature change in the water. You're not supposed to feed the fish the first few days, either. It's very hard to make a fish die of starvation, most inexperienced owners just feed the fish too much, which kills the fish. And I'm assuming you have a fish bowl because larger tanks are hard to move "to the balcony"(or at least a tank under 5 gallons), which would have been torture for the poor goldfish, because goldfish are generally a messy type of fish and needs good filtration and thorough cleanings. Research properly next time, OP.

Not to mention, goldfish are cold water fish, so leaving it on a balcony with warm ambient temperature and sunlight would have been miserable. People are so stupid about fish. It's not hard to research pets before you get one.
