Today, I brought my 6-year-old to the mall to sit on Santa's lap. She told him what she wanted and smiled for the picture. When the lady told her that her turn was over, she began throwing a fit, pulling off Santa's beard in the process. This caused all the kids in line to begin sobbing. FML

I would be sobbing too if a kid had enough strength to rip every one of Santa's hairs out of their follicles. Imagine the pain! . . .That IS what happened, right?

I never understood the draw of taking your young children to sit on a stranger's lap. In what other situation would this be ok?

Sounds like something out of a funny Christmas movie!

I'm sure Santa and the lady elf have had to deal with bratty kids before. How could they be so unprepared as to let a little kid ruin the illusion for everybody else?

cause usually that's the parents job to know how to raise a kid, not the poor old man making minimum wage to deal with bratty children.

Least you won't have to tell her that Santa isn't real anymore.

I just moderated a comment that might be the santa that your daughter pulled the beard off of. He posted about it.

That kid has no discipline. The other kids in line and their parents should be the ones posting on FML since their Christmas is now ******, not OP. YDI for lack of parenting, no kid older than 2 should be throwing a tantrum and no parent should be online posting some "woe is me" bullshit about it.

You, sir, are an asshole with clearly no idea how difficult it is to raise a child. Nobody's going to turn out perfect! Even the best of parents meet speedbumps sometimes. And what's this about no kids older than two having tantrums? Kids have tantrums all the time. It's all a part of life. Stop being such a prick.

nope, he was actually right, until the point he said "older than 2". well, no. but i'd say any child older than 4 throwing a tantrum like that is completely unacceptable. she's 6. if you're capable of turning lights on and off by yourself, use the potty by yourself, turning tvs and computers on by yourself, taking the school bus - and i could keep going - you're smart enough to know that when a grown up tell you it's time to go, it means it's time to go.

I've always been afraid of Santa!! I hate when parents force their kids to go see Santa! Hopefully, this is not the case here!

I disagree. Kids start school when they are 5, meaning they'd be in grade 1 when they are 6. I don't think it's acceptable for a grade 1 child to still be having tantrums like that, especially in public.

Where I live, the Santas are actually in little prop houses so children and their parent(s) are given a little privacy when they're with Santa. I think it's actually to prevent things like this from happening.

Personally I get agitated when people say they let their kids know the 'true' meaning of Christmas. Most people don't actually know the history of Christmas. Christmas hasn't always been a Christian holiday, or even about 'Santa' for that matter.
