Today, I came home from a four month stay in Africa, where I managed to avoid suffering any serious illness. Some hours after my first meal back at home, I got food poisoning. FML

When Africa's food is better prepared than ours.

Bitch please, I've lived in Africa the majority of my whole life without catching major illnesses, contrary to popular belief, there are places on this continent that are clean and safe -.-

It may not have been food poisoning per say either. Depending on what you ate over there and what you ate when you got back, your stomach may not be used to it and is fighting back. Even after being gone only a month the first time I ate back here I felt terrible. Of course I went from fish and rice to a burger but still haha!

Did you crash your car in the driveway too?

That's why it's good that there is no McDonald's in Africa

Of course there is McDonald's in Africa. Not everywhere, but I lived in Morocco for 5 years and there are tons in Casablanca -_-

I am assuming they went to help in the poorer areas, where there wouldn't be. Of course there is in the main cities and stuff, but that is not where they went

How the hell do you know that's not were they went?! They never said they were there on a humanitarian venture. They could have been in a large city on business for all we know!

Head up, OP! This food poisoning is probably way more enjoyable than some fatal disease you could've caught there! I hope you feel better!

Not sure if anyone has said this yet, but food poisoning actually occurs about 3 days after you ingest the "cause" food. So, it was almost definitely something you ate before you left. Although I was told this by my psychology professor, so if it is wrong, don't blame me.
