Today, I came to work with a huge hangover after a night out. I work as a marching band director, and guess who I had to conduct a sectional with? That's right, percussion. My head still hasn't stopped throbbing. FML

Like I've got nothing against recreational drinking, but if you knew what was coming up I can't really sympathize. It'd have been different if you had been scheduled last minute and couldn't have known your plans, but as a conductor you know your schedule

Yeah that's your own fault. Why would you get drunk knowing you had work the next day?

As a member of a marching band, sectionals are not always planned. The sectional he had may have been planned that same day.

My band director rarely plans sectionals. Usually it's the section leader who plans it and then we ask/tell the director about it.

But he still knew that he had work and decided to drink anyways, it's his own fault.

Be thankful, you could have been with the piccolos!!

Ouch op I feel bad for you as I am also a marcher. That must suck but next time if you know you have a sectional try not to drink as much.

Your own idiotic fault. If you work in education (I take it your work with students) you shouldn't even get the slightest bit drunk before a work day. Especially setting that example for kids (correct me if you don't work with youth)

Buddy drum line is the best, get over that fact that you signed up to be a director and *gasp* had to make sure the entire band could play their parts!

At least it wasn't beginner clarinets, they sound worse

Dude, water! Water, water, water, water and more water. I have not suffered a hangover headache because I always remember to drink way too much water before I drink and I also remember to drink water while drinking booze and when I'm on my way to bed. Yeah, you'll pee a lot the next day but I'll take that over the headache
