There are such things as toilet seat locks. A four year old isn't very big, and it doesn't take a lot of water to drown someone. I'd splurge on those locks before something tragic happens if I were you.

That would be horrible. The little fella would slip and his face would be submerged and then he might have his arms pinned in the bowl and be unable to maneuver to get out. OP, get on a solution this fml can become much much worse.
