SassyBasher tells us more.
The poster was not offensive in any way, there were no triggering pictures, and the principal okayed it but apparently changed his mind at the last minute WITHOUT telling me. The reason I was trying to raise awareness is because I recently lost a close friend to suicide after she cut to deeply.

I am so sorry.
Welcome to the fact that people, even people in authority, are largely stupid and thoughtless
Self harm isnt a copeing thing, its a stupid psychopathic thing to do and anyone who thinks its a reasonable way to deal with anything, does need therapy. YDI big time
Did you even read the FML? OP isn't self-harming, they're raising awareness about the issue with a poster.
You put it rather... bluntly but I semi agree with you. Though that's probably because my views are biased as the only self harmer I know said she does it because, and I quote, 'All my friends were.' I just don't understand why you would hurt yourself/continue to do so. Could someone to me why explain why? Kinda interested in the psychology behind it.
You're correct in saying that people who self-harm need therapy but you are so, so wrong to say it isn't a coping mechanism or that it's a hallmark of psychopathy. Do you even know what someone with psychopathy looks like or what behaviors they exhibit? Do yourself a favor and actually educate yourself on the psychology of self-harm.
Wtf... thats not fair! They need therapy.
Here's a simplified psychological perspective on self-harm: We have hormones such as dopamine. Dopamine is basically a hormone that elicits a pleasure feeling in ourselves. So basically, it's like a natural drug in our bodies that gives you a "high". We often get this "high" from partaking in physical/emotional intimacy, listening to music, or simply even hugging someone! When someone self-harms, they are typically depressed so they will do anything to get out of that "dark place". I'm not sure what leads them to do it in the first place, but when people start self-harm, they temporarily get that rush of dopamine. They end up craving for more of that dopamine rush (the pleasurable feeling after they harm), and thus, the self-destructive cycle starts...
It's kinda fascinating that the human body would encourage such a behavior. Thanks for explaining that :)
No good deed goes unpunished!
I find this quite stupid, you did a good job. The school should have allowed you to post it. Society these days.

What a joke, #86. This girl is trying to prevent those in need from killing themselves. Funding isn't going to open discussion for those who feel trapped, raising awareness will open discussion and peoples hearts. Grow up and stop trying to put down a noble cause.
It's shit like this that gets me pissed off about society these days. You try and do something good to promote the good in society, but end up getting bashed and punished for it.
