Today, I created a poster trying to raise self-harm awareness in teens for my school. They sent me to the counselor, suspended me, and recommended I go to therapy. FML
I agree, your life sucks 44 210
You deserved it 4 981

The poster was not offensive in any way, there were no triggering pictures, and the principal okayed it but apparently changed his mind at the last minute WITHOUT telling me. The reason I was trying to raise awareness is because I recently lost a close friend to suicide after she cut to deeply.

What a joke, #86. This girl is trying to prevent those in need from killing themselves. Funding isn't going to open discussion for those who feel trapped, raising awareness will open discussion and peoples hearts. Grow up and stop trying to put down a noble cause.

It's shit like this that gets me pissed off about society these days. You try and do something good to promote the good in society, but end up getting bashed and punished for it.

Self harm is a serious matter, my school knows this as we lost a girl in my year to suicide. People shouldn't joke about it or treat anyone who tries to raise awareness like they have problems. You go OP for trying to do something, seeing as the rest of society is blind.

You live in a backwards southern, zelote like comunity dont you. thats the only explanation I can think of for them recommending you go to therapy. They just want to hide and ignor the ugly side of society.

If your poster was THAT controversial then you are well on your way to being an artist. Good job!

Maybe it contained graphic horrific bloody pictures? Just because you are used to see bloody scene in video games/movie doesn't mean it is ok with the rest of the world OP. Sorry, but I think your school has a point.

Please explain how self-harm has anything to do with video games. You should do some research about what self-harm is.

I need more information to make a judgement but my guess is that the poster was graphic or something like that. If it was inappropriate for school and op hung it without permission they could have gotten in trouble and that makes total sense

Like the girl suspended from her volleyball team for giving a too drunk to drive friend a ride, you did the right thing and got punished for it. Sad state of affairs, but good for you for speaking up on an important issue that the powers that be would rather ignore.

I admire and appreciate how much you care about the issue of self-harm. Suspension was an insane response. Please don't stop caring.

They're retarded. Maybe go to the principal and tell him you want to organize a group to raise awareness of self harming. Maybe if you aren't alone and you make known your intentions they won't think the worst.
